You think your information is safe on your computer? Think again. I had a laptop about a year ago, thought everything was fine no reason to worry. Next day walk out to my car and it was stolen. I live out in the middle of nowhere too very low crime, but yet i got bit big time. So from now own I password protect my new laptop so that anybody that tries to access it has to have my password. I would recommend anybody doing this. It’s defiantly not full proof, but its a step in the right direction. Also with files, pictures or whatever you may not want people to see, try zipping them and using a zip program so that you can password protect the zip file. I recently downloaded and have been using WinAce archiver, which allows you to do more than just .zip files. It also allows .rar files and a few others. Another thing you can do is use a thumb drive. They are great I actually have one that is attached to my key chain that I use for many things that has its own program on it that is password protected. So it is a great way to transfer files from one computer to another, but also to be able to save important documents and other things away from prying eyes.
But Always Remember your security is only as good as your password. Try and use at-least a mix of letters and numbers and some password programs will allow you to use different characters.
