GMail now has a version 1.5.1 out for at least blackberry devices.  The big update with this is that when you have new email it will put an yellow star on the GMail Icon.  Also by going under Menu in GMail and then “More” and then “Settings” you can check to have your blackberry notify you when you receive new email.  You can then go to your Blackberry Profile settings and change how you want it to notify you with vibrate or different chimes.  The problem I had with mine was that my red light on my blackberry kept blinking even after I checked my email.  This could have been a one time glitch or not because I changed it so it would not drive me crazy.  You can download the new version by going to http://www.gmail.comfrom your blackberry browser and selecting “to get gmail faster.”  If you already have GMail on your blackberry you will want to go to your Advanced Settings and remove the current version before downloading the newer version.
